Operations Accountant

The Opportunity:
Sasuchan is seeking a highly organized, detailed oriented Operations Accountant. The successful candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced and challenging work environment, multi-tasking, and collaborating with all stakeholders that are a part of SDC Group, subsidiary companies, partnerships, and Takla Nation.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform day-to-day financial transactions and data entry, including verifying, posting, and recording receivable data;
- Creation of invoices, including cost verification and final job review;
- Other accounting entries for invoicing as required in compliance with financial policies and procedures;
- Verify discrepancies and resolve clients’ billing issues;
- Preparation of bi-weekly payroll and reporting;
- Prepare and submit T4 documents and ROE’s;
- Maintain and organize excel spreadsheets and records for the accounting department;
- Look for opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiencies while supporting and driving operations accounting best practices;
- Assist with month and year-end by collecting and providing data to Corporate Controller;
- Coordinate with team to resolve accounting issues;
- Seek guidance from leadership when required;
- Provide general support and coverage to the accounting team;
- Supporting the Director of Finance and Corporate Controller as needed;
- Other administrative duties as assigned;
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education is preferred;
- Payroll Fundamentals (Canadian Payroll Association) an asset;
- Strong understanding of Provincial and Federal Legislations;
- 3-5 years related experience including the use of accounting software, such as SAGE or Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles;
- Attention to detail and numeracy skills essential;
- Must have strong computer skills and experience, MS Office.
