Chief Executive Officer

Bringing 25+ years experience in consulting and contracting fields.

Steve is the CEO of Sasuchan Development Corporation. Before joining Sasuchan, Steve spent six years as Pacific Regional Manager of All North Consultants responsible for six divisions providing engineering services to the Pulp & Paper, Infrastructure, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors. In addition to those operational responsibilities, Steve oversaw Project management, IT and continuous improvement companywide.

 

Prior to that, Steve worked as General Manager/CEO for TDB consultants for 17 years working in the field of forestry consulting and contracting. Steve‘s education includes a Masters of Business Administration from University of Northern British Columbia (UNBC), a diploma in forest technology from College of New Caledonia (CNC) and a Blackbelt in Lean continuous improvement.

 

Currently serving on the CNC board of Governors as chair of Finance and Audit committee since 2014 and is an active coach for UNBC JDC west entrepreneurship team since 2012.

 

Previously Steve has served on the city of Prince George economic development corporation board 2011-2014 and volunteer food service at St Vincent de Paul 2005-2013.

 

Born in Prince George and raised in Mackenzie British Columbia, Steve is a lifelong resident of the central interior; married with two children and attending UNBC.

Blaine began his journey with SBS in January of 1993 and has spent his entire career at SBS Forestry, starting as a compass person and working through all positions over the years to become the General Manager in 2018.

 

With 25 years of experience, his current areas of expertise is specific to layout and timber cruising. His skills are specific, but not limited, for a number of tasks including Block and Road Designs and Layouts, design of engineered roads, and logging and road construction supervisor. Blaine also has 16 years experience as a Project Coordinator for multiphase contracts. 

 

Blaine attended College of New Caledonia to study and become a forest technologist.

Blaine has been happily married for over 20 years with two beautiful children, a son and a daughter.

Operations Manager

Doug, with 27 years experience, has been with SBS Forestry since May 1989. Prior to working at SBS, Doug worked as a FRDA contractor for the Ministry of Forests Research Branch, helping establish various Site Preparation and Planting trials throughout Northern BC. Most of Doug's experience has been gained while working at SBS. He started in the silviculture department doing surveys and within several years, Doug had worked his way up to silviculture coordinator.

 

In the early 1990's, Doug became a shareholder. Since then, he has gained a broad range of experience in silviculture and timber development. Over the last several years Doug has been working on final Cutting Permit and Appraisal packages for SBS Forestry's various clients. 

He completed the Forest Resource Technology diploma program offered through the College of New Caledonia.

 

Professional Associations: Joined Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP) in November 2005, as a Registered Forest Technologist and is also a Certified Silviculture Surveyor.

Doug has been happily married for 29 years and has three daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys photography, traveling, hiking and camping.

Started at SBS Forestry in 1988 as a summer job doing mainly silviculture surveys. Hans founded SBS Forestry’s GIS Department in 1993 and then later became an SBS Shareholder in 2002.

Became an RFT in 2005. 

 

Born in Prince George, Hans attended the College of New Caledonia for his Diploma in Forest Technology in 1987. He then studied at Simon Fraser University for his BSc Biology in 1992.

Enjoys spending time with wife, Theresa and son, Wil. Hans' hobbies include motorcycling and restoring old motorcycles. Hans is also active in the Prince George Vintage Motorcycle Club.

Purchasing Coordinator | Equipment Manager | GIS

He started working for SBS Forestry March of 1994. Gained his experience at work starting out doing various mapping, looking after all major purchase's of sleds, quads and trucks and also manage the companies fleet of equipment. John became a shareholder in SBS Forestry in 2008.

 

He has attended the College of New Caledonia and obtained his diploma in Engineering Graphics and Design. 

 

Born in Prince George, John has lived here his whole life and enjoys spending time with his family and close friends. When he has spare time from work and farm activities, John likes to go snowmobiling, ATVing, camping and enjoying the beautiful outdoors.

Besides work at SBS, he owns his own cow/calf farm, raising calf's until auction and growing hay. John is also a member of Prince George Cattlemen's Association.

Brandon is skilled in multi-phase forestry 

Brandon enjoys outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, hiking and collecting rocks.

Tom Lewis has over 40-years of experience in the forest industry and private business in Western Canada and is currently the President and Owner of Lewis Management Systems Ltd., Vice President Business Development for the Sasuchan Development Corporation, and a Director for several private Companies in British Columbia. Tom also currently serves on the Board for the College of New Caledonia. As a business consultant, Tom provides management, business start-up, and continuous improvement services to a variety of clients in the industrial and resource sectors. Tom worked for Canfor Corporation for 17-years and was Vice President Woodlands – Canada where he was responsible for forestry operations and fibre supply to 16 primary manufacturing facilities and represented Canfor on forest policy, sustainability, environmental leadership and stakeholder relationships at a regional and provincial level in BC and Alberta. Tom is a Registered Professional Forester (RPF) who holds a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Justice Institute of BC, a Green Belt in Six Sigma and several advanced Lean Production System credentials. Tom has 3 Children and has lived in Prince George with his wife Mary Clare since 1992.
